I’m ~60 and need to lose weight — inadvertently in the last couple of days eaten about half my normal carbs and stretched meal spacing from 6/day to 3/day – the stench and bad taste from ketosis is unnerving – if one can stick with it for awhile do those symptoms lessen? – last time I slipped into ketosis everything tasted like cat spray :^( – so I chickened out and pushed up the carbs

Ketostix are good but a simple glucose blood test maybe more accurate in determining when you have gone into ketosis. I’m not sure if you’re working out or not with this as well. Sometimes your body uses some or all of the ketones making the ketostix not as accurate. In contrast if your blood sugar level drops below 50 you can usually bet you’re in ketosis. In any case, I hope you’re cycling properly. Good luck!

@NOM145 It’s difficult when you don’t cook your own meals all the time, but here are some low-carb foods to eat while in a ketogenic diet: all meat, any solid cheese, walnuts, almonds, sunflower seeds, greens such as spinach, swiss chard, mustard greens, crucifers like kale, broccoli, red cabbage, and Brussels sprouts, and white button and crimini mushrooms. Drink water, tea or coffee. On labels, avoid sugar or too much saturated fat and go for protein, fiber, and unsaturated fats instead.

I don’t think in the beginning you should try to go into ketosis, this is something that people who eat low carb try to achieve in the beginning. The first thing you should do is read, and learn. I would try to eliminate “white” from your diet..maybe pass up the potato and bread, and sugars and white flour go for salad, or berries, eat more green.you don’t have to reach ketotis to lose weight, give up soda and drink more water-but learn your body.contact me any time, try, to keep a food diary

uhm. I’m 17. I’m overweight (140lbs 4ft 10in) and i was wondering how to go into ketosis. I’ve never done it before. i dont know what to eat. I’ve tired and tried to get my parents to help me, but nothing works. they just sit around, eat a huge meal, then desert after every meal.So i havent learned any good habits from my parents and they wont change ever. What foods can i eat? what should i look for on the lables? how do i keep track? I need help D:

@2006coca I prefer Stevia, That was a flavoring at the time when I started adding chocolate syrup to my coffee..now I drink it with just cream and coconut oil. I agree, all the artificial sweeteners are more dangerous then the real stuff. I don’t have much of a sweet tooth much anymore, thanks for watching.

Coconut oil.. cool I’ll put it in my coffee. But splenda… Hell no.. research it a bit more. Splenda was first made as an ant killer. It’s worst than sugar. Try raw sugar cane juice.

@chocoboasylum oh but my morning coffee is by immune booster and fat burner! thanks for watching, cut back on the carbs, use coconut oil instead of other oils, cook with it, use it on you skin, hair and nail and of course be careful in the beginning, it could clean out all those toxins inside you!! which is a good thing!

@DareGud I am the same way about ketosis, but I have to prepare my kitchen for that, I know exactly what I need to eat and how to get into ketosis, I have been off my low carb plan since the holidays, and my daughter birthday, but I am okay with that, I love to research and the Paleo diet is alot healthier than a low fat diet, best wishes to you, and happy Ketosis!! thanks for watching

  12. DareGud says:

Nice video ;) , im starting again a Paleo diet focused on achieving Ketosis, I’ve done it before and I love it. I just can’t go on a highcarbs diet, I think I can have undiagnosed hypoglycemia because every time I eat mild amounts of carbs I go blunt after 10 mins.

  13. chocoboasylum says:

There is no way I would drink your morning coffee XD But yeah, cutting back on carbs and switching to coconut oil is awesome.

@winter654123 coconut oil (organic cold pressed virgin) has many health benefits and has even been linked to preventing and treating degenerating diseases such as Alzheimers. Check out Dr.Mercola and Dr.Newport’s research on those matters. And for other general benefits check out Sean Croxton on Underground Wellness (fantastic channel) among many other sources.

Nah, I don’t like any flavoring in my coffee…it sounded good, but I didn’t care for it. It’s not to say I wouldn’t get a spoonfull and chase it down with some black coffee! ;)

  21. Bonnie90505 says:

Thanks so much, I really didn’t think they would stick with eating low carb, especially my son’s girl friend who was a rice junkie, but they all are so motivated by the weightloss and the inches coming off Good luck to your daughter, I know how you must feel,

  22. Bonnie90505 says:

Thanks, it so much easier now when everyone eats the same, no more buying pasta, rice and high carb bread, I am really amazed that they all came on board with me and are sticking with it, because they are losing inches like crazy and the weight loss in slowing down, but it is still keeping them motivated, especially my daughter who is insulin resistance, her monthly cycle is getting better and she doesn’t crave sugar any more..thanks for watching.

  23. Bonnie90505 says:

oh Margie…read up on coconut oil, it really works for me, I just love it now in hot drinks and sometimes will cook with it. Let me know when you try it, I need more people to review this amazing oil.

  24. Bonnie90505 says:

well?? did you like to coconut oil in your coffee?? it is really good to me, but in the summer time when the oil is room temp, I just swig it down..lol, I never drink hot coco much, but this reminds me of a coco coffee, with a coconut flavor, I don’t sweeten my coffee, but love really strong coffee and creamer..I don’t know.. but I am addicted in the am for my coconut oil now..LOL

  25. cotaman08 says:

I just tried it with coconut; sorry but I like my coffee black with no flavorings. I can’t say I didn’t enjoy cleaning the spoon off after I put the coconut in the coffee. ;)
