@brie38g I wish somebody could tell utubehaircare that, because she believes mineral oil is good for the hair and it aint nothing wrong with it lol!

@brie38g You are so right! I just got through commenting about my experience with that, it appears softer, but sooner or later it will dry that mug out lol! Since I am natural all I uses is ECO, EVO, jojoja Oil, rosemary leaves, garlic, beautiful curls leave in conditioner and Alaffia hair lotion, My hair has been bra strap length and still growing it will be waist length by the beg. of the year or the end of the year! But all I say is stay away from products that coats your hair so true!

mineral oil is not supposed to be a moisturiser its a water sealant, its supposed to lock water in which it does. if you use it like a moisturiser your hair will be dry. so mineral oil is not bad. its just another bandwagon for naturals to jump on. its like leading sheep to the slaughter.

@FriendscallmeLouLou Wow long time ago!!!! Forgot about this lol.

@potterylady1 You are one smart lady. Baby oil is just scented mineral oil. Mineral oil is also used as a laxative both orally and anally. Some diets recommend mineral oil over other body lotions because the body won’t absorb it and impede weight loss. Unlike natural oils, it does not get racid over time so it will be perservative-free!

Any way I agree: Moisturize then seal (with the oil of your choice).

i use motions it has mineral oil in it used it for years didnt have a problem with it

  8. potterylady1 says:

I don’t think mineral oil or any oil is a moisturizer. Water is the moisturizer and the oils just seal it in.

@shedoziU se what works for you. Every product willl react differently on each person.:)

Mineral Oil coats the hair it can be used in retaining moisture. Many naturals demonize Mineral oil and in a way that is one sided. If you are not using a shampoo (sulfate or sulfate-free) then it is not wise to use products with mineral oil. If you are shampooing regularly (at least once a week with a shampoo) Then mineral oil is not a problem. I am stressing shampoo not co-wash because conditioner washing is not strong enough to remove mineral oil or most products.

put some of that on your knees

Thanks for explaining this. Ironically, I used vaseline to “grease” my scalp when i was natural in High School. My hair was long and thick. People would ask me what I used on my hair…I also notice that all the products that moisturize my hair to my liking either contain mineral oil, petroleum or both. Why is that? I’ve had to toss out several of the products after finding out about this! Dang that bites!! LOL!

  18. lwill108 says:

thanks for the info. i looked on wikipedia after watching your video and it says how mineral oil is desirable for wooden cutting boards and utensils because of its ability to prevent water absorption!

You can use any coconut oil that is extra virgin and certified organic. Most jars have directions on cooking, skin, and hair use. I got my jar at Whole Foods near the vitamins. I’ll be doing a video on coconut oil on Sunday.

At night I put 8-10 big loose twist in my hair and roll the twist with perm rods. I do that on damp hair. You will get a looser bigger curl!

Thank you for commenting and the compliment!
