Why calorie counting works for me, and how eating no chemicals, no refined foods, and no artificial sweeteners or colors (what I call “non-processed” or “clean” eating) has changed eating and weight loss for me. Calorie counting – or calorie RESTRICTION – is something we are ALL doing in one form or another to lose weight. It works and is the only way to lose weight… it’s the science of energy in vs. energy out. However, I do straight counting calories, and that doesn’t work for some people. Some people need a more formal plan to do it (such as WW, Jenny Craig, or even Nutrisystem or Amari Weight Loss) and some people can’t handle numbers or plans at all and would rather a more intuitive approach (such as eating “like a child again,” following Paul McKenna, or just eating “more sensibly”). Plain counting calories works for me. How about for you? This week was a viewer-submitted question week and we have several more to come. You lose weight faster when u kick the processed foods because your livers working on disposing of the chemicals instead of breaking down fats…..
I must agree with @dexarouskies regarding the Lose It app. I have it on my iPhone and it’s fantastic.
I really like your system, which is essentially the same thing that I’m doing. I use an ipod touch, where I can log my food in in a matter of seconds, and the wonderful program entitled “loseit” has changed my entire life, with calorie counting, but the nice interface that they have, and the advanced suggestions of how much to eat without feeling hungry.
yessss I count calories 0:)
We don’t care
My Objective is to eat foods that have more calories then foods that cost more that have less calories. I don’t want to gain weight, I don’t want to loose weight, I want to maintain my weight so I don’t wither away and die, like everyone else seems to be trying to do.
Percent daily values are based on a 2000 calorie diet per day. That’s my objective, to consume 2000 calories, spend less for more calories, but being healthy while doing so.
Is wine considered processed?
Are you just righting this shit to start fights? How lonely are you? The FDA CDC and EVERY major medical organization in the world acknowledges that counting calories and eating keeping protein carbs and fat in the daily ranges is the ONLY way to lose weight. 95% of overweight people do not have genetic disorders that cause there weight problems! Calorie counting is science like evolution moron. Unless you starve yourself of course
It amazes me how so many fatties argue against calorie counting. If the number of calories you eat is less than what you burn, you will lose weight. It CAN NOT be otherwise.
They justify their gluttonous behavior with whatever BS they can.
They don’t want anything that requires effort (calories burned) and they want to eat like a fucking horse. When that fails, they resign themselves to having some weird metabolic disorder.
…lol…
and you are going to hell. wow.
I see you are a product of inbreeding.
Educate yourself, then read my comment again.
you are dumb, 3500 calories = 1 pound.
restrict by 3500 per week, you lose 1 pound.
Calorie counting is a waste of friggin time.
People are overweight because the DNA is malfunctioning because they ate crap, smoke, drunk alcohol, soda etc.
You don’t bring the DNA back in line by starving your cells of energy. You correct the problem by eating species specific live food.
Peace
I LOVE how incredibly “moderate” you are. You have SUCH a healthy mindset.. I always learn so much from your thought process!!
Everyone is calorie counting at the heart of it..it really works for me, although I find that, at this point, I don’t have to really count much. I pretty much eat the same variety of things most of the time, and I know what the calories are for them..but I do weigh and measure stuff most of the time, and I always track still, so I dont forget i ate something and accidentally go over. YAAAY for nonprocessed..it makes it so easy to stay on plan..NO CRAVINGS!!

nightoftwilight: The tune at the end is just a riff from Garageband on Apple Macs called “Pendulum”.
I am very interested in cutting processed foods out of my diet. However, I also am totally addicted to my coffee! Is there a coffee creamer that is non-processed?
BTW, I am on WW and have lost 60 lbs. I already eat very little meat and when I do, it’s chicken or fish or soy products.
I’m a calorie counter as well, but I prefer the term “calorie reduction” to “calorie restriction.” Just a mind thing I guess! It’s worked better for me than anything else (70 lbs lost to date) and works the best when I am as precise as I can be. great vid, Shanti!
Does anyone know the name of the song at the end? Someone said its called vengence sleeping but…
It doesnt sound like this when i look up that song haha
i love calorie counting.. because its very cheap lol.. and knowing something is almost 800cals makes me think of another choice. ive done WW in the past. FOr me ww made it too easy for me to eat nothing but crap. ya i still lost weight.. but its more to me then loosing weight.
whoever thumbs-downed every comment is a dork, just sayin’. anyway, i have been counting kcals for just a few weeks but i am loving it so far. i like the structure it provides. i know exactly what i can have and high-kcal foods i can’t always fit, i only budget in occasionally. working great for me so far. the thought of not keeping track now seems so ridiculous.
Shanti i totally agree with you with the non-processed food thing. I have done two diets here on youtube, I have counted calories and i have done the mccombs plan in which you cut out all processed foods, sugar and gluten out of your diet and i do have to say i feel so much better when i do not have processed foods in my diet. great video girlie
Counting Calories doesn’t work for me. Because i hate math and its way to much work to figure out. Even with websites i am not sure if i ate a cup and oz.. ugh.. yeah. So no dice for me on that one. I always have the wrong numbers at the end of the day.
calorie counting works!!!
[if you actually COUNT everything, lol]
